RMI INDIA 2022 FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME

RMI India first launched its Fellowship Programme in 2020 to develop the next generation of emerging climate leaders in India. The Fellowship is designed to train and equip exceptional early career professionals with the tools and skills needed to support India’s clean energy transformation. Over a 12-month period, Fellows gain market and policy experience, engage in research and modelling exercises, and work as essential members of a fast-paced, motivated, and mission-driven team.

RMI India will be selecting up to four individuals for the 2022 Fellowship. Fellows will be expected to contribute their passion, expertise, and creativity, and will have the opportunity to gain market and policy experience while working as essential members of a fast-paced, motivated, and mission-driven team. The position is based in New Delhi, India.

About RMI India

RMI India is an independent think-and-do tank that works with diverse stakeholders. It takes inspiration from and collaborates with RMI, a 40-year-old non-governmental organisation. RMI India’s mission is to accelerate India’s transition to a clean, prosperous, and inclusive energy future.

Programmatic Focus

Since 2019, RMI India has been working with the public and private sectors to enable India’s clean energy future. Our ongoing work includes partnerships with the central government, regional governments, utilities, industry leaders, and civil society organisations. We focus on supporting the energy transition of the transportation, power, built environment, and industrial sectors, which account for the majority of India’s carbon emissions and particulate pollution.

At the national level, we work with policymakers and ministries to support the development of policies that save energy and emissions, and that help establish India’s low-carbon development pathway. Collaborative and rigorous analysis helps build commitment and confidence among key stakeholders by quantifying the potential environmental and economic impacts of policy proposals.

In collaboration with subnational government and industry partners, we work to deploy demonstration projects and leading early examples of integrated clean energy solutions. The experience of the pilots (both successes and challenges) informs policy recommendations to the central government, creating a learning cycle that helps refine policies for long-term impact.
